SEC Program Lands 7-Foot Player of the Year From the Transfer Portal

The Texas Longhorns have landed a major addition to their roster, securing FAU transfer Matas Vokietaitis, his agent Deirunas Visockas confirmed to ESPN. The 7-foot Lithuanian center, who was named AAC Freshman of the Year, brings size, skill, and a promising future to the SEC program.

Vokietaitis made a strong impression during his freshman season at FAU, averaging 10.2 points and 5.5 rebounds in just 18 minutes per game. His efficiency and ability to dominate the paint earned him recognition as one of the top young players in the conference. Despite limited minutes, he showcased his scoring ability with 18 double-digit performances, including a career-high 21 points on two occasions.

The decision to transfer comes as Texas begins a new era under head coach Sean Miller. Vokietaitis is the third transfer portal commitment for Miller, joining Xavier wing Dailyn Swain and Purdue forward Camden Heide. His addition is expected to bolster the Longhorns’ front court, providing a strong presence in the post and improving their rebounding and rim protection.

Vokietaitis’ versatility and basketball IQ make him a valuable asset for Texas as they aim to compete at the highest level in the SEC. His ability to contribute on both ends of the floor adds depth to the roster and positions him as a key player for the upcoming season.

For Texas fans, the arrival of the AAC Freshman of the Year is a reason to be optimistic about the program’s future. As Vokietaitis transitions to the SEC, all eyes will be on the 7-footer to see how he elevates his game and helps the Longhorns contend for championships. It’s clear that Texas is building something special, and Matas Vokietaitis is set to play a big role in that vision.
