It was revealed earlier today that the sports agency that looks after Leon dry seidel has told the Edmonton Oilers that they are looking to have a deal completed by the end of the summer prior to the start of training camp.
This news was revealed on an interview from a German media source known as
Eishockeynews.de when Jiri Poner Works for spectrum hockey well negotiate Draisaitl’s contract with Mike Liut of Octagon Hockey.
This timeline adds a layer of stress and compression as the Oilers organization begins its new general manager search who will be at the forefront of these negotiations according to CEO and president Jeff Jackson. Jackson has no desire to be the general manager even though he has been fulfilling the role over the last couple of weeks.
During the interview, Poner confidently spoke that a deal will get done between the Oilers and Dr. sidles representation as Draisaitl would like to avoid the messy contract he had when Peter Chiarelli was general manager of the Oilers.
What does this mean for the Bruins, it means Don Sweeney will continue to monitor and wait and see if contract talks fail and the deal will not be met which could give him time to craft a package to send to the Oilers and potentially send him over to the Bruins.
The Bruins are currently in their own contract talks between their starting goaltender in Jeremy Swayman who has declined to file for arbitration yesterday.
