Joe Lunardi Explains Kansas State’s NCAA Tournament Hopes on Monday Night
ESPN Bracketology expert Joe Lunardi explained during the Kansas State vs. Utah broadcast that despite losing to BYU on Saturday, the Wildcats are still on the bubble of the NCAA Tournament. The Cats have won six in a row before Saturday’s loss.
According to multiple K-State reporters on X, Lunardi mentioned there is a good path to reach March Madness.
The most recent Bracketology from ESPN’s Lunardi had multiple Big 12 basketball teams on the bubble.
Four teams from the league are currently listed on either side of the bubble, including West Virginia, BYU, Kansas State, and Cincinnati. Both the Mountaineers and the Cougars would reach the tournament if it began today, while Kansas State and Cincinnati would narrowly miss out, falling into the next four out and next, next four category.
Going into Monday night, West Virginia sits at 6-8, BYU sits at 8-6, Kansas State at 7-7, and Cincinnati at 5-9. BYU has the toughest matchup of the four in their next outing, clashing with No. 23 Kansas, while West Virginia and Cincinnati face off, and Kansas State takes on Utah.
In the update, the Big 12 was listed with eight total tournament teams, including Houston, Iowa State, Texas Tech, Arizona, Kansas, Baylor, West Virginia, and BYU. Kansas State was listed at No. 75, and Cincinnati checked in two spaces behind at No. 77.
