Brian Kelly and LSU Tigers look set to lock in an elite defensive recruit commitment amid upcoming visits
Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers are staying red hot on the recruiting trail here recently and the momentum just won’t slow down. They just logged Top 10 high school and Transfer Portal recruiting classes this past cycle. The commitments are already rolling in for 2026. Now they look set to lock in yet another elite five star defensive recruit amid upcoming official visits.
Blaine Bradford, Five Star Safety Recruit
Blaine Bradford has been considered one of the most special football recruits in the nation for over two years now. He debuted as a consensus five star safety recruit for almost every major recruiting service and his hype train really hasn’t slowed down since.
LSU has been pushing hard to keep Bradford home since he plays his high school football in Baton Rouge. Now it looks like they’re just one step away from officially making that happen. Bradford announced a trio of upcoming official visits this week and LSU made the cut. If the current schedule holds, the Tigers will have the final visit with Bradford, likely getting in his commitment shortly thereafter.
Blaine Bradford will also be visiting Ohio State and Texas, two blue bloods who have been in on his recruitment for a long time, but LSU seems to have a significant edge according to most experts and sources closest to this recruiting battle. Although he hasn’t logged a ton of unofficial in-person visits (especially for a kid already in town), Bradford has done nothing but speak glowingly and frequently of his sustained interest in the Tigers.
Bradford already boasts prototypical size, track speed, and plays baseball too. He’s a do-it-all enforcer on defense with range to play virtually any defensive back spot. That versatile athletic profile will certainly come in handy for LSU if in fact they do land him.
LSU just lost Major Burns to graduation, Sage Ryan to the transfer portal, and don’t have many proven safety options to rely upon moving forward. Bradford is good enough that he could come in and immediately change that, starting from day one as a five star phenom. Let’s just hope Brian Kelly and company seal the deal when he visits officially June 20th.
