With golf star Rory McIlroy filing for divorce from his wife Erica Stoll, he stands to lose a large chunk of his wealth in court. But by the looks of things, his leaked prenup suggests that one major asset will be safe.
According to the Daily Mail, some details of McIlroy’s prenuptial agreement (prenup) have leaked. While McIlroy is not protected from losing up to half of his money in the divorce finalization, there’s one significant item that is safe: His Florida mansion.
Per the report, McIlroy’s $22 million home in Jupiter, Florida will be safe with him once the ink is dry on the divorce. The 13,000-square foot property in the Bear’s Club golf community is believed to have 10 bathrooms and nine bedrooms. It used to be owned by four-time major winner Ernie Els.
The property also reportedly includes a pool, tennis court, games room, home theater, gym and even a recording studio.
However, the Daily Mail speculates that McIlroy won’t keep the property even after the divorce as he’ll likely let Erica keep it to raise their daughter, Poppy.
As for his money, which the Daily Mail estimates sit at a cool $87 million, Erica will likely receive a good chunk of that with alimony and child support. Joint custody of Poppy is also anticipated.
All told, McIlroy is looking at a pretty big hole in his wallet coming soon.
