Last week, the official X account for Kansas City shared where Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker lives. This post was made after his commencement speech at Benedictine College.
“Just a reminder that Harrison Butker lives in the City of Lee’s Summit,” the Kansas City account wrote.
After receiving a ton of backlash from the public, Kansas City took down that post and issued this apology: “We apologize for our previous tweet. It was shared in error.”
Quinton Lucas, the mayor of Kansas City, provided an update on the employee who doxed Butker. It turns out the city has “separated” itself from that person.
“There’s been accountability from the city of Kansas City,” Lucas told KCMO radio, via Fox News Digital. “We all look forward to moving on, letting the Chiefs play, [and] letting the city do what it’s supposed to do in delivering basic services.”
Lucas acknowledged the initial post about Butker was “clearly inappropriate.” He claims that won’t happen again in the future.
On Wednesday, multiple members of the Chiefs defended Butker and said he has the right to share his beliefs.
Butker, meanwhile, has been fairly quiet since making his speech at Benedictine College. Eventually, he’ll have to deal with various questions from the media.
