Noah Franco Tallies 2 Hits as Horned Frogs Fall to Arkansas Razorbacks

Noah Franco registered two hits as the TCU Horned Frogs fell short 2-1 to the Arkansas Razorbacks at Globe Life Field at the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series in Arlington, Texas on Saturday.

The Horned Frogs stranded seven runners in the losing effort. The Razorbacks benefitted from a two-run, pinch-hit double in the seventh that gave them the lead for good.

TCU starting pitcher Tommy LaPour (1-1) held the Razorbacks to two base runners through six innings and finished with two runs on two hits with one walk and five strikeouts.

But a lead-off walk in the seventh ended a streak of 11 consecutive batters retired. Another walk put the go-ahead run on before Kiuhio Aloy doubled to give the Razorbacks the 2-1 lead.

A lead-off walk for the Frogs in the seventh was erased with a caught stealing, and double plays in the eighth and ninth innings erased TCU offensive threats.

Karson Bowen and Sam Myers both walked with two outs, but a strikeout ended the game with the winning run in scoring position.

It’s the third time that TCU outhit its opponent this year and the Frogs stole three bases in the game. it’s the second time the team has registered multiple stolen bases this season.

Next up for the Frogs are the Kansas State Wildcats at Globe Lif Field on Sunday as the Amegy College Baseball Showdown continues. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. CT. Trever Baumler will take the mound for TCU.
