Abdul Carter’s agents drop major injury update ahead of 2025 NFL Scouting Combine

Penn State pass-rusher Abdul Carter could very well be the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft. He has the talent to be, at least.

The problem for Carter is that he suffered a shoulder injury in Penn State’s Fiesta Bowl CFP quarterfinal game against Boise State, and now that injury is threatening to hurt his draft stock.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that per Carter’s agents, he hasn’t yet fully recovered from that injury. As such, he’s not expected to participate in drills at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine.

“We fully expect Abdul to be recovered in time to work out at his pro day at Penn State, and he will perform at a very high level,” Carter’s agent Drew Rosenhaus said.

This could be a case of Carter’s team feeling that he’d have nothing to gain by working out at the combine. If he looks good at his Pro Day, none of this will matter anyhow.

With that said, everything is so hyperanalyzed by NFL scouts leading up to the draft that Carter not yet being ready to go is certainly notable news.

Carter notched 23 sacks in the past three seasons for Penn State
