Watch: Georgia OL Jared Wilson surprises in 40-yard dash at combine

Georgia Bulldogs center Jared Wilson’s 40-yard dash time at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis on Sunday may have raised eyebrows.

After running a 4.9-second 40-yard dash on his first try, Wilson (6-foot-3, 310 pounds) set an even better time on his second attempt, posting a 4.84. That was the fastest time among O-linemen at the combine.

According to Next Gen Stats, Wilson reached a top speed of 21.04 mph, the third-fastest figure by an O-lineman over the last three years. He’s the only interior O-lineman to eclipse 21 mph.

Per On3’s Jake Rowe, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said Wilson’s GPS times were close to that of the team’s defensive backs last spring. It seems he wasn’t bluffing.

Wilson — who allowed zero sacks in 12 games in 2024, per Pro Football Focus — is considered one of the best prospects in the draft. On his updated big board, ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. lists him as his No. 1 center.

While a fast 40-yard dash isn’t a requirement for an O-lineman, it should still boost Wilson’s stock.
