Fans Sending Prayers to Dwyane Wade Amid Shocking Health Scare

Three-time NBA champion Dwyane Wade recently opened up about a pretty serious health scare he had back in December 2023.

Though he admittedly put off going to the doctor for a physical for years, Wade’s father, who had his own battle with prostate cancer, inspired him to finally go get checked out due to the stomach issues, cramps and trouble urinating he’d been having.

On a recent episode of “The Why with Dwyane Wade” podcast, Wade revealed that he had a run-in with cancer himself that resulted in him having 40% of his kidney removed.

The 43-year-old former Miami Heat star disclosed that the diagnosis was purely accidental and that he only found out about the cancerous cyst on his kidney because of a full-body scan he had done for a completely unrelated health reason.

“On the process of checking, like, ‘Why is my (urine) coming out slow, why is my stream ain’t powerful? Why is it a little weak?’” Wade stated. “In the midst of that, I went into the doctors to look at something else, but because I did the full-body scan, they were able to see my entire insides.

“They were able to see something that was on my kidney. … So what I had on my kidney was a cist, a tumor. But it was nothing that could be biopsied, it was not nothing they can test unless they went in and surgically removed it…and the doctor was like, ‘You need to have kidney surgery.’

“I had a personal decision to make, and what it was, ‘If this is cancerous, if this tumor, this cyst is cancerous, on your kidney, you’re 41 years old, you probably need surgery because it’s something that needs to be removed so it doesn’t spread.’”

Wade credited the experience for bringing him and his family closer. It’s not known what Wade’s health status currently is regarding the cancer, but fans took to social media to send prayers and well-wishes to the 3-time NBA All-Star, who retired in 2019 as the Heat’s all-time leader in points (21,556), assists (5,310), steals (1,492), games played (948) and several other categories.

“Oh my God! Glad he made the decision to get the surgery and have the tumor removed. Pray it doesn’t return 🙏🏾,” one fan wrote.

“Prayers up for D Wade 🙏 I’m glad he is ok,” added another fan.

“I’m praying for your health moving forward @DwyaneWade 🙏🏽,” one user chimed in.
