Penn State breakout projected to go from part-time reserve to one of the elite in College Football in 2025
College football fans had the chance to see the rise of Penn State tight end Tyler Warren this past fall. Warren went from a part of an outstanding duo the year prior to arguably the best tight end in all of college football, hauling in an astounding 104 receptions for 1,233 yards and eight touchdowns.
He is now expecting to be a first round selection in the 2025 NFL Draft, and has the talent to be a difference maker on the next level. At right around 6-6 and 260 pounds, Warren was a mismatch weapon for the Nittany Lions. His impact is going to be hard to replace.
Luckily for Penn State, they have recruited the right end position at an incredible level recently. Sophomore Luke Reynolds, a former four-star recruit in the 2024 recruiting class, is expected to take the torch as the next great Penn State tight end. On3 college football analyst Ari Wasserman is especially high on Reynolds, including him as a breakout star prediction for 2025.
Here is what Wasserman had to say about Reynolds:
TE Luke Reynolds, Penn State
There is no replacing Tyler Warren. There is no question the former Penn State tight end was one of the most electric players in college football a year ago, helping lead the Nittany Lions to the College Football Playoff semifinals. Warren did everything. But Penn State may have its next best tight end waiting in the wings. Reynolds, a former high-end four-star prospect in the 2024 class, is stepping in now that Warren is off to the NFL. In his first year as Penn State’s tight end starter, he joins a Nittany Lions offense that is loaded with talent between quarterback Drew Allar and running backs Nicholas Singleton and Kaytron Allen. Penn State is still in the market for a reliable, consistent pass-catcher. Reynolds, a 6-foot-4, 240-pound athlete, could be in a prime spot for a bunch of passes this year.
Reynolds is not going to put up the numbers that Warren did in the offense next season, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t going to be a very important part of the offense. It isn’t often you can lose a talent like Warren’s and potentially be okay, but that’s the situation that the Nittany Lions are in. Keep your eyes closely on No. 85 next fall.
