Award-winning documentarian Larry Foley to present program at Hawgs Illustrated Sports Club
Award-winning documentarian Larry Foley, a University of Arkansas professor, will be the featured speaker April 23 at the Hawgs Illustrated Sports Club luncheon in Springdale.
Foley’s films have earned multiple awards including 8 Mid America Emmys from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Foley has won 4 Best of Festival Media Arts awards from the international Broadcast Education Association.
The native Arkansan has documented the state’s rich history with films such as “Cries from the Cotton Field,” “Indians, Outlaws, Marshals and the Hangin’ Judge,” and “The First Boys of Spring” which documents the early days of professional baseball spring training in Hot Springs.
Foley’s documentaries are available through a number of streaming sites as well as PBS.
He has been a journalism professor at Arkansas since 1993.
