Bruce Pearl’s Much-Needed Auburn Injury Status Update Before March Madness
Whether fans like it or not, teams that do well during March Madness are always usually healthy. They have a loaded squad that has developed chemistry and players understand their roles well. When one domino falls down or is at risk of tumbling, dysfunction runs amok. Are Bruce Pearl and the Auburn Tigers heading into this challenge as a complete unit?
Auburn experienced a tumultuous week in the lead-up to March Madness and the SEC Tournament. They suffered consecutive losses and some of their players are understandably banged up.
Coach Bruce Pearl, however, assures their fans that the squad will be healthy, via Peter Rauterkus of AL.com.
“I think we’re coming into it pretty healthy, to be honest with you. I think Denver is probably, feeling a little bit better. Chad probably feels a little bit better. Johni is getting back to 100% so you’re right, not to discount any of those injuries, but I do feel like, gosh, we could be in a lot worse shape,” the Auburn head honcho said.
Despite the setbacks during the tail-end of their regular season campaign, the Tigers still clinched the SEC title. Now, their next challenge would be to win the conference tournament in order to build confidence for March Madness.
Auburn is going to face the Ole Miss Rebels in their first game of the SEC Tournament. If their fate changes, this could carry over to what could be a national championship run. Health plays a big factor in all of this.
Will Coach Pearl manage their fatigue well?
